Our Church Today

Our Church History

Monterey First Baptist Church has a long history dating back to the early 1900's. 

1906

The original Monterey Baptist Church and parsonage that were built in 1906. The church building was razed in 1921 and a new stone building was constructed at the same location in the early 1920's. A fire of unknown original destroyed the parsonage and stone church in 1937.

The entire congregation of the Monterey First Baptist Church pose in front of their church in 1928. The cornerstone for this church was laid on September 29, 1921. The interior of this church was destroyed by fire on April 18, 1937, and was rebuilt soon thereafter.

The Sanctuary

The sanctuary was completed in 1939 by the founders of the church, with plaster on the walls and beautiful wood beam arches.
